First Alert Motion Sensing Light Socket

First Alert Motion Sensing Light Socket is undoubtedly a well-worth buy.

It all started in my fathers' pursuit to combat the issue of lights being left on in our garage with no one in the room. He had purchased and tested the Switchmate Smart Lightswitch- running him for a relatively high price of $34.99- to no avail. Continuing his search to save money, he found First Alerts' Motion Sensing Light Socket. Figuring for the modest price of $22.22 on Amazon, it was a step up from his prior purchase.
Let me get started by saying that I certainly recommend this smart accessory to anyone looking to save some money on the electric bill. It does exactly what it says it will do. First Alert Motion Sensing Light Socket is extremely easy to use, and works perfectly. It features 360 degree motion-sensors boasting a 12 foot activation radius. There are some minor issues with the advertising on the package. Further investigation of the manual that comes with it elaborates to say that the sensors are most accurate/responsive on the sides that contain the physical sensor(s). I have found this to be true as it does not always sense motion immediately, though continue walking a few steps and it will activate. The manual states that it is best to position the sensors so that they are facing your most often walked route. The packaging also states that it turns lights on/off when you enter/exit a room; while that is true, it does not mention that it shuts the lights off after 4 minutes of no motion. With that said, the sensor is still no less than excellent. We placed it in our garage by simply screwing the First Alert Motion Sensing Socket fixture into the original light bulb socket, then proceeded to screw our light bulb of choice into First Alerts' bulb socket. The Motion Sensing Socket supports both incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs. Installation is very simple and easy, and once installed simply leave the lightswitch in its "on" position, and First Alert Motion Sensing Socket will take over from there.
All in all, First Alert Motion Sensing Light Socket certainly gets the job done- well enough that we went online and ordered another, and we intend to order more for other areas of our house. It genuinely works well, and for the price you can't go wrong. Never flip a lightswitch again!
